The first marine tanker was loaded in Port of Sillamäe (SILPORT) on July 25 – 26, 2006
Marine tanker “Madison” was loaded 33 000 t of gas condensate at Sillamäe Oil Terminal (in SILPORT). Marine tanker “Madison” was built in year 2000, and has a draft of 11 m and DWT 35 000 t.
Sillamäe Oil Terminal is an independent operator of oil products terminal in SILPORT. The total capacity of the terminal’s tank storage is 157 500 m3. All the tank storages are insulated and capable of handling dark as well as light oil products. In addition the infrastructure of the terminal includes a double-sided railway pier for (un)loading 44 railway tank wagons simultaneously and 2 deep-sea quays capable of berthing the largest vessels that can enter the Baltic Sea.
SILPORT is the closest to Russia deep-sea port of the EU, located in Sillamäe, Estonia, 25 km from the EU-Russia border. Quayside depths of 12 to 16 m allow SILPORT accepting the largest vessels that can enter the Baltic Sea. The Free Zone status (0% VAT, customs duties and excise taxes for cargo in transit) of the port in combination with the fiscal policy of Estonia, which is the most liberal in Europe (0% corporate income tax on retained earnings), make SILPORT an efficient platform for value-added distribution of cargo to the neighbouring markets of Russia, the CIS and the EU.
With Sillamäe Oil Terminal starting operations, the first stage of Sillamäe port development has been completed and the set goals have been reached: Port is handling general goods, ro-ro, passengers and oil products.
