On May 10, 2006 there was held the first practical trial of oil spill recovery equipment in SILPORT. The trial was held by the Finnish company OY LAMOR. Representatives of the Port, SilSteve and Sillamäe Oil Terminal also participated in the project. Oil spill recovery equipment was introduced to state officials and representatives of the Port and Terminals through a simulated oil spill recovery in practice. As the result of the trial all the equipment deficiencies were removed and recovery process management efficiency was confirmed.
The next trial, featuring launching of the oil booms into the open sea, is planned to take place in June 2006.
