SILPORT is open for navigation 365 days a year.
Ice conditions in the port are favourable for all-year-round navigation and NO ice breaking is needed in an average winter.
Depth of the aquatory of SILPORT varies from 10 m at quay for general cargo, to 16 m at the deepest berths dedicated to oil-products handling. It allows the largest vessels that can enter the Baltic Sea through the Danish Straights to enter the port any time.
The sea channel in SILPORT aquatory is a semi-restricted (dredged in shallow water) single-line channel classified as Group A Channel – supplied with day and night navigational aids as well as providing guaranteed depths of 16,5 m. Its axis is the same for all incoming vessels.
SILPORT aquatory is well-sheltered from winds from W, NW and N by 1 km long break-water in the western part of the port. The port has a natural shelter from all the other winds by the mainland.
According to the Maritime Law of the Estonian Republic pilotage is required for any vessel entering the aquatory of SILPORT as well as any port in Estonia.
